Time for Tea at Restaurant 1539, Chester Racecourse
1539 Restaurant & Bar is the latest Chester restaurant to welcome a luxury Afternoon Tea to its culinary offering, which launches this Easter on Good Friday afternoon. Named after the year racing first began in Chester, 1539 is Chester Racecourse's statement on-course eatery, offering quality food and service all year round.
Afternoon Tea has long been established as 'the quintessential British treat', since its introduction into society in the late 19th century. Restaurant 1539 is the perfect setting to indulge in this timeless classic, with a stunning vista overlooking the racecourse, it offers a memorable and picturesque location steeped in both tradition and English heritage.
Visitors will dine on a traditional offering of sandwiches, freshly baked fruit, plain or signature maple and pecan scones, alongside homemade cakes such as a sumptuous layered chocolate and raspberry gateaux, served with tea or coffee. There is also the opportunity to make it a 'boozy' treat with fizz or cocktails. The stands will be beautifully dressed by local city centre florist, Wild, taking inspiration from an English country garden and adding a touch of femininity and elegance to the occasion.
Restaurant Manager Andre Sievers said: "We've been wanting to launch our own version of the quintessential afternoon tea for some time. Having recently recruited a pastry chef into the 1539 fold, we now feel we have the perfect team to support our new offering.
"The unique positioning of 1539 offers a sought after panoramic view of the world's oldest racecourse as a backdrop to your afternoon tea experience - you can't get more British than that!
